Join The Nordic Web, Northstack and Icelandic Startups for Slush Play

Next week, The Nordic Web is off to Iceland for the first time, for what promises to be one of the most exciting events in the Nordics this year, Slush Play, as VR experts and enthusiasts from all over the world will gather in Reykjavik to explore the newest trends in VR and gaming.

As part of the event, together with our friends at Northstack, Icelandic Startups and Beringer Finance we are hosting a side-event the night before the main programme starts, focusing on VR as an investable opportunity.

Joining us on stage to discuss this will be Christina Bechhold (Principal, Samsung Global Innovation Center Co-Founder and Managing Director, Empire Angels), Masaru Ohnogi (Head of Business Development of gumi inc) and Phil Chen (Managing Partner at Presence Capital & Advisor at Horizons Ventures).

Before we introduce the panel, we will present a brief overview of the current state of investment into VR and gaming into the Nordics, with an emphasis on how it has increased dramatically in the last year or so.

We also have room for a couple of Startups to pitch at the event as well, so if you are interested in this then please send me an email at

Finally, if you are a reader from Iceland or are simply in town for Slush Play then we encourage you to join us for our little get-together and we look forward to meeting you next week!

In the tech world, things move fast and companies are born anywhere in the world. I’m able to have an ear to the ground with The Nordic Web - the content is fresh, local, and of high quality, which is exactly what you need as a seed investor.

In fact, it’s through Neil Murray’s newsletter that I first heard about Mapillary. Several months later, I was fortunate to lead our firm’s investment in the Company to help drive the creation of a crowdsourced visual representation of our world
