Norway's tech heritage is rich, yet doesn't always attract the headlines in the same way that it's Nordic neighbours do, but I have a feeling that that's about to change.

Tonight, I hosted the Norwegian Finale of the Nordic Startup Awards, where the next generation of Norway's startups were celebrated, and the best of them crowned victorious.

Although the winners took the glory, all of the nominees, and all of the audience should take credit for Norway's bright future as this coming together of a community is vital to their future success.

The coming together was organised by Startup Norway and Oslo Business Region, two organisations who have greatly impressed me with their enthusiasm and dedication to Oslo's (and Norway's) startup scene, and through their initiatives are playing a big part in the bright future I'm predicting.

Great role models are the main motivation for startups. The winners today demonstrates how international growth and success can be done, and not least, that it can happen fast. They inspire the startup ecosystem and are the real heroes in placing Norway and Oslo on the international startup map.
